About Us

TEDxBard is a student-organized, independent TEDx event at Bard College committed to the core TED philosophy of ideas worth spreading. In 2023, Bard hosted its first TEDx conference, Shaping the Future, featuring 12 talks by students, faculty, and members of the wider Bard community. In 2025, TEDxBard returned with the theme Building Bridges with an interdisciplinary set of talks. The conference has served as a platform for Bard community members to sharpen their public speaking skills, share their stories, and spark a thoughtful campus dialogue. The next TEDxBard conference will take place in 2027.

About TEDx

  • TED Talks Daily
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to "ideas worth spreading", which often take the form of short talks delivered by leading thinkers and doers. Many of these talks are given at TED Conferences, intimate TED Salons, and thousands of independently organized TEDx events around the world. Videos of these talks are made available for free on TED.com and other platforms. Audio versions of TED Talks are published to TED Talks Daily, available on all podcast platforms.
  • What is TEDx?
TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience ("x" signifies an independently organized event). At our independently organized TEDxBard College event, TED Talks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
  • More about TED
TED’s initiatives for spreading ideas include: TED.com, where new TED Talk videos are posted daily; TEDx, which licenses individuals and groups to host TED-style events; the TED Fellows program, which selects innovators from around the globe to amplify their projects and activities; The Audacious Project, which surfaces and funds critical ideas; TED Translators Program, which crowdsources the subtitling of TED Talks; and the educational initiative TED-Ed.

    More about TED

TED also offers TED@Work, a program that reimagines TED Talks for workplace learning, and a growing library of original podcasts, including the TED Interview with Chris Anderson, WorkLife with Adam Grant, Far Flung with Saleem Reshamwala and How to Be a Better Human.

Our Speakers

"Giving a TEDx talk was like nothing I’ve ever done before. The preparation kicked my butt—getting the message right, editing the talk (and then editing it some more), memorizing it, delivering it without falling all over myself. But it was all so worth it. It’s a great opportunity to get an important message out there, and you will stretch yourself in ways that will make you feel proud of what you accomplished."

—Michael Sadowski, Associate Dean of the College
